Local MP, Hugo Swire, joined customers and staff at The Salterton Arms pub in Budleigh Salterton to celebrate the pub’s £244,000 refurbishment by national pub operator, Punch.
The Chapel Street pub has been given a makeover to improve the overall experience for customers and cater for a great new menu.
The investment has been spent on upgrading the pub’s kitchen, cellar and toilet facilities, enhancing the interior with new furniture, fixtures and fittings and full redecoration both inside and out.
Taking over the helm at The Salterton Arms is Rick Green, who is an experienced publican and is supported by the existing pub team.
Rick said: “The Salterton Arms is already a popular community pub and I’m keen to point out that the changes that have taken place have not altered the pub’s atmosphere, but improved facilities making it more attractive to our customers, old and new.
“By introducing a new menu, we hope to broaden the pub’s appeal and now serve food in our quirky mezzanine area, keeping downstairs for drinking and entertainment. I’m lucky to be inheriting a great team at the pub who I know are committed to providing excellent customer service.”
Customers can now enjoy tasty dishes from the new menu which features all the usual pub favourites as well as chef’s specials and a Sunday carvery. Children also have their own menu. There are various food and drink offers throughout the week including steak nights and fishy Friday deals. The menu is complemented by a wide range of beers, wines and spirits including cask and craft ales as well as plenty of non-alcoholic and hot drinks. In terms of entertainment, The Salterton Arms offers Sky and BT sports, quiz nights and regular live music.
Commenting on his visit, Hugo Swire MP said: During my visit I was impressed with the improvements that had been made at the pub and I sensed true community spirit, which is exactly what you want from your local. Rick and his team are obviously very proud of the Salterton Arms and are committed to providing their customers with the best pub experience possible. I wish them all the best for the future.”
Commenting on behalf of Punch, openings manager, Andrew Killeen, said: “The Salterton Arms is a charming pub in a lovely seaside location and is popular with locals and tourists alike. Investing in the pub demonstrates our commitment to making sure that it continually meets the needs of the local community. Introducing an improved menu with more choice should enable Rick and his team to maximise the pub’s potential going forward and I’m looking forward to continually supporting them in the future.”
