Local MP Hugo Swire has praised Otterton Primary School after he paid the staff, governors and pupils a visit on Friday 12 February.
Mr Swire, who regularly visits schools in East Devon, spent 45 minutes with Head Teacher, Carron Saunders, and the school governors discussing school funding and the Raleigh Federation, a formal partnership between Otterton Primary School and Drake’s Primary School, which was set up in 2012.
Following this, Ms Saunders gave Mr Swire a short tour of the primary school. Mr Swire dropped into two classes and was given a chance to talk to pupils and teachers.
Commenting following his visit, Mr Swire said:
‘It was a pleasure to once again visit Otterton Primary School and meet with Carron Saunders, the teaching staff, governors and pupils.
‘The school has a wonderfully friendly atmosphere and it is clear that it is an important part of the Otterton community.
‘It was very useful for me to be able to discuss issues surrounding funding and learn more about the progress of the Raleigh Federation. I am delighted that this partnership with Drake’s Primary School, which enables the two schools to share resources, is working so effectively’.
